Who is Delilah?

You can read more on my About Me page. The short version: I'm a 30-something, stay-at-home mom of 5 kids. I’m a self-confessed socially awkward, southern girl with sass. I think the DVR is the best invention ever and I'm pretty sure I saw Elvis shopping at H&M when we were in Florida.  I love sweet tea, Five Guys bacon cheeseburgers, any kind of cake, warm sunshine days, my wine, scary movies, and long walks on the beach. What?! Suddenly I feel like I'm filling out an online dating profile....

How would you describe yourself in 3 words?

Awkward, Fun, and Slightly Delusional. Oh, that's four words. I guess we can add rule-breaker to the list.

What's your biggest pet peeve?

Only one?! But I have so many. One of my biggies is people who are judgmental, rude, and think they are better than everyone else. Oh, and the people who leave one square of toilet paper on the holder and don't bother to grab a new roll. Those people suck.

Do you have any strange fears?

If you're looking for odd neurosis' and strange phobias, you have come to the right place. I have a long-standing phobia of Bobbleheads. I know. I should be medicated. I also possess an unhealthy fear of spiders, heights, and any body of water where I can't see the bottom. Again, I should be medicated. The last one is not my fault, Matt is obsessed with that show River Monsters.

What is your favorite Starbucks drink?

I am a Venti Green Tea Frappuccino with whip all the way, baby. That's my go-to drink at Starbucks, although I'm also partial to the Chai Frappuccino and the Caramel Apple Spice. If I'm in a caffeine emergency then I go for the Mocha Coconut Frapp. Great...now I want Starbucks.

What's your comfort food?

French fries are at the top of the list. I love french fries in a very unhealthy, co-dependant, kind of way. I can feel my arteries clogging as I type.

You wrote about a miscarriage, have you had more than one?

I have had 5 miscarriages including the loss of twins in the second trimester. I've also had numerous chemical pregnancies. My uterus is kind of a snob, she causes problems on the regular. We're not on speaking terms anymore.

Do you still suffer from PPD and Anxiety?

I am the very picture of stable mental health. What?! Stop laughing. While I no longer suffer from postpartum depression, I know that I am predisposed to depression in general and I keep a very close watch on my mood cycles. I am currently unmedicated....hey wait, where are you going?.....I am still cursed with an unhealthy level of anxiety, which I deal with by obsessing about things and driving the people in my life crazy. The lingering side effect from my most recent battle with PPD & Anxiety is insomnia. I watch a lot of infomercials at 2am. I almost bought a snuggie.

What's your favorite place to shop for clothes for yourself?

I'm not all that picky and I'm not a girly girl. I find pieces I love in many different places including H&M, Kohl's, Target, Forever 21, Charlotte Russe, Old Navy....

What's your favorite movie?

My favorite all time movie ever is Steel Magnolias. I big pink puffy heart that movie and poor Matt has been subjected to it so many times that he can probably quote my favorite scenes. He could probably act them out with me....Hmmmmm....I like that idea.

What's your worst character flaw?

I'm outspoken. I've learned to curb this impulse slightly as I've gotten older but in the past the lack of a filter between my brain and my mouth has definitely gotten me in trouble.

How do you get "me time" with such a big family?

I play a special version of the childhood favorite 'Hide and Seek' with my kids. They hide and I don't look. That's good for at least 10 minutes. When it's my turn, I hide in the back of my dark closet where I've convinced the kids that a monster lives. That buys me another 10 minutes or so. Technically I'm playing with my kids and getting alone time. Two birds, one semi-domesticated stone.

What is your least favorite household chore?

Just one? Laundry is the bane of my existance and I swear it breeds overnight like bunnies. I'm convinced that my laundry baskets will never ever be empty. And also- where do the socks disappear to between the washer and the dryer? Has anyone ever figured this out? I have a bag full of at least 75 lonely, mismatched, socks that have no mate. How does this happen?

Where is your favorite place to eat?

I adore Five Guys burgers, as I've mentioned. I'm also a huge lover of Chick-fil-a, hands down my favorite chicken sandwich ever. For a sit down restaurant, I love Texas Roadhouse. Their loaded sweet potatoes are a food group as far as I'm concerned.

Are you a morning person or a night owl?

Definitely a night owl. I used to wish that I was a morning person that could bounce out of bed at dark o'thirty and get a jump on the day. It's never going to happen. Instead I drag myself out of bed, bleary eyed and incoherent, at the last possible minute every morning and then rush around like a crazy person feeling 3 steps behind at least until lunch. I rarely go to bed before 1am and usually it's closer to 2am.

What side of the bed do you sleep on?

I sleep on whichever side is furthest from the door. You know, monsters and robbers and all that....I know, I just set feminism back 50 years. I'm okay with that. It's better than being attacked by a monster in the middle of the night.

What's your favorite color?

Yellow. No, green. No, maybe red. Purple? I can't pick just one. I just love color. Probably yellow. Maybe.
